Richmond Docklands succumb to second successive league defeat

After a thoroughly dispiriting home performance against long-time rivals London Malory, Docklands had a full three weeks to stew until their next on-court appearance against fellow newcomers to Super 8s action Essex Blaze.

Team Essex came into the game winless in five competitive outings, but Richmond Docklands were well aware of the young side’s ability augmented by their rigorous coaching and training regime.

The question for Essex seemed to be when, not if, they would get their first victory of the season and a ring-rusty Richmond Docklands walked straight into a punch that left the side nursing their second successive league defeat.

Malory give Richmond Docklands a wake up call

Richmond Docklands were given a wake up call by old rivals Malory Eagles who inflicted the first defeat of the season on Luis Bello’s new team. After three wins in the Super8s, Richmond Docklands had made a dream start to their league campaign but in the 40th Docklands v Malory match it was Jefferson Williams’ side that proved worthy winners on the day.

Richmond Docklands remains unbeaten after win against London Lynx on Saturday

With just eight teams in England’s top flight, the fixture list is always going to play havoc for coaches and players alike when trying to sustain momentum throughout a long season with relatively few games.

On Saturday morning when Richmond Docklands set foot on the University of East London’s court to take on London Lynx in Super8s action, it had been a full three weeks since the team’s last competitive fixture.
