Richmond Volleyball update July 27th 2020

We hope that you and your families are fit and well. A lot has been going on behind the scenes at Richmond Volleyball as we wait until we can return to play. It’s obviously been a frustrating time for our club members and volunteers, especially our beach teams who so far have seen most of their season wiped out.

Our beach programme had some good news last week when Richmond Council announced that the beach courts in Teddington will re-open on Monday 17th August.

We are in the process of updating our policies and making practical preparations so that we can re-start beach training safely as soon as possible.

We obviously welcome the news today from Volleyball England that we can return to indoor 6v6 training and competition. We are speaking to our venues to ascertain when we can begin indoor training again and we are active in on-going discussions in the volleyball community as we all work towards returning to the court.

Needless to say, we will return and we look forward to welcoming everyone back as soon as we can.

In the meantime, please stay safe and keep checking our website and social media for further updates.

Cancellation of all Richmond Volleyball training and matches due to COVID-19

Dear players, parents, coaches, team managers and members,

As the government has just announced that all “non-essential” contact is to be avoided and also Volleyball England has announced the cancellation of all remaining National League competitions and training, we as a Club have decided that the responsible action at this point in time is to cancel all further training sessions and matches.

Any questions or concerns should be forwarded to your relevant team manager or coach.  We will be in touch regarding any sessions re-opening however at this stage we do not see this happening in the foreseeable future.

Stay safe and healthy.

Regards
Richmond Volleyball Executive Committee

Polonia make it 17 in row against battling Richmond Docklands

Richmond Docklands returned to Kingston Arena for the first time in almost two months to take on Super League champions IBB Polonia London.  After a run of four league wins in a row before Christmas, Richmond are still looking for their first Super League win of 2020.  It was always going to be a tough task against the current table toppers but several of Docklands’ squad have connections back to the visitors so have an added incentive to win against their old team.
